Renaissance Art.

Renaissance art is characterized by naturalism, the use of expressive gesture, linear perspective, atmospheric perspective, and chiaroscuro. In painting, figures are placed in a three-dimensional, believable space, and their posture and gesture. The main characteristics of the Renaissance Art are realism, expressionism, perspective, emphasis on individualism, geometrical arrangement of figures and light and shadowing. Renaissance art plays a great role in the world of arts. It is amazing to know how Renaissance artists work on their arts. How they apply their technique to beautify their works. Many Renaissance artists develop their own original styles. Leonardo da Vinci as one of the greatest artists in Renaissance period, clearly understands linear perspective as well as the importance of light as the unified light source in the painting is related to the real light source. In terms of expression in Renaissance art, it is important to remember that this was a time when art was being brought back to life. Renaissance period made a great impact in the world of art. That make artists now a days more detailed in making their artworks. Artists now a days adopt the techniques of Renaissance period, like the way they use chiaroscuro effect.
Renaissance art sought to capture the experience of the individual and the beauty and mystery of the natural world. Artists studied the effect of light outofdoors and how the eye perceives all the diverse elements in nature. They developed aerial perspective, in which objects become increasingly less distinct and less sharply colored as they recede from the eye of the viewer. The Renaissance period in art history corresponds to the beginning of the great Western age of discovery and exploration, when a general desire developed to examine all aspects of nature and the world. The Renaissance helped in the philosophy, Bruno and other thinkers threw off the chains of cramped intellectual masters for the sake of gaining a free, ancient but pagan viewpoint. This new position proved unsuitable in the end, but it served at the time as a means of escape, a necessary step in the direction of modern philosophy. The Renaissance gradually reached all parts of Europe and finally modified all phases of social life. It developed new arts such as printing, new conceptions of our earth through geographic discoveries, new national policies as in the cultivation of trade by sea, new church life through the Reformation. It brought inspiration, light and joy to those who delighted in art, learning and adventure. However, the neglected masses of peasants were long in gaining any relief from their miseries. Our growth of knowledge was held back by the Middle Ages, and the Renaissance period helped us learn that knowledge with a great speed indeed.

BAROQUE ART!

Baroque art is generally associated with the 17th century. Characterized by a focus on asymmetry, mass and space, Baroque art also uses light and color in a new, dramatic way. While in the 16th century there was a balance between the part and the whole, now there is a sense of unity, where the part is submerged in the whole. Art theory develops during this time, initially in Italy, and promotes ideas of order and organization as well as instinctive immediate emotions. The word "baroque" was first applied to the art of period from the late 1500s to the late 1700s, by critics in the late nineteen century. Baroque covers a wide range of styles and artists. Baroque could be the last stage of Renaissance art or it could be the beginning of a new period of painting. If it is a new style it must be distinguished from theRenaissance style having a clear set of stylistic principles. LIGHT, REALISM AND NATURALISM and LINES are some of the characteristics of Baroque art.
Baroque art is characterized by great drama, rich color, and intense light and dark shadows. As opposed to Renaissance art, which usually showed the moment before an event took place, Baroque artists chose the most dramatic point, the moment when the action was occurring: Michelangelo, working in the High Renaissance, shows his David composed and still before he battles Goliath; Bernini's baroque David is caught in the act of hurling the stone at the giant. Baroque art was meant to evoke emotion and passion instead of the calm rationality that had been prized during the Renaissance. The Baroque style of art was a dramatic change from the Renaissance style that came before it. During the Renaissance, artists tried to show perfect people and classical themes. Renaissance artists liked the art of ancient Greece with its symmetry and grace. But by the 1500s, artists wanted to relax a little. Baroque artists painted real people with all of their warts, wrinkles, and bumps. They enjoyed the down-to-earth art of ancient Rome. Baroque art itself had a bumpy start, but after a while it gained the respect of the artistic world. People began to like the realistic detail and intense emotions they saw in Baroque drawings and paintings.

Christian Arts...

"Christian art" is a term which, while it always applies to the fine arts and their creations only, is nevertheless used in more than one meaning which we must distinguish in this encyclopedia. Most frequently we designate by Christian art, the arts in as much as we find them in the service of the Church. So far as they serve either to construct or to embellish houses of worship, the homes of the consecrated servants of God, monasteries, convents, the last resting-places of the faithful. In this sense, Christian art is also called ecclesiastical art, and we find it convenient to treat this subject under the title ECCLESIASTICAL ART. But Christian art is sometimes also used to denote the fine arts and their creations, in as much as they are in harmony with Christian ideals and principles. In this regard Christian art will be treated under the several special headings into which its divisions naturally fall.
Here in the Philippines, there are Churches like the one above, the Lipa Cathedral Church that are considered a heritage and historical in our history. It was built in Romanesque tradition with a circular dome, massive walls and balconies. It is the center of worship in the historic town of Lipa, Batangas. Lipa Cathedral was originally built to honor St. Sebastian. Its first grand concept was completed in 1865 but, after the devastation of World War II, it underwent massive reconstruction. This beautiful church has an architecture in which columns and light play. The domes of the church and the bell tower have intricate moldings and arched stained-glass windows.
Christian art hasn't affected me in terms of doing illustrations. Now I can somehow adapt ideas that I have learned about the different styles and perceptions of the artists that contributed lots of artworks from this era. I am now familiar with the Christian artworks such as their churches, sculptures and their paintings, I can tell myself that every people has different beliefs that they practiced on their daily lives.

Realism VS Distorted: Who will be the one?

Realism and distorted? Which one do I prefer? If you're going to ask me which of the two, honestly speaking, I don't know what to choose. Why? Because these two art is very different with each other. In realism, we tend to copy the exact detail of a photograph or an art. But in distorted art, we portray it as a different approach. We gave our own meaning to it in a way that it's not easy to understand. In a way that, the only artist himself can explain. Art distortion has different meanings. When you search it on the net, many meanings will popped up. Distortion is any change made by an artist in the size, position, or general character of forms based on visual perception, when those forms are organized into a pictorial image. It is condition of being twisted or bent out of shape. In art, distortion is often used as an expressive technique.
As an artist kuno, I should explore different kinds of doing arts. I should not stick myself in one kind of art that I know I'm already good at it. Since I need to choose one from realistic or distorted, I would choose distorted art. Why? Because in distorted art, any artists can make their own artistic rendition of an art. It reveals who and what the artist is. The feelings, emotions, you can see it in distorted art. Making distorted art is unique. In making distorted art, an artist can do whatever he/she wants in the subject. He/She can change the look of the subject in a different way. In distorted art, you will see how creative the artist is. I appreciate doing distorted art more that realistic art. And it's easy for me to make a distorted art than a realistic one.
Whether it is a realistic or distorted art, it doesn’t really matters because all I know is, what I’m doing is an art, and what I am about to do is to go deeper through art. As long as I know in myself that I can make art, I will make arts. Thought I don't have that talent in making a klauzura ("sketch" By the way, I learned that word from our professor in drawing class. Haha.) I will practice and practice for me to be a great artist in the future.

Ad-lib Art...

Last November 29, 2012, there was an event called the PRISAA. I was aware of this so called game event of different college students from different schools from Laguna. It was the first time for Lyceum of The Philippines - Laguna to host such big event like this. While I was sitting beside my other choir members, our professor asked me to tell my classmates to watch the program and draw the different happenings during the event. At first I was really shocked because of what she said, I was like, "OMG! How can I do that?" I don't have any idea what to draw. Since we need to maximize the time that our professor gave us, I came up with the photographer who's capturing every moment that is happening in the event and one of the members of Lyceum Spartans Dance Troupe that showcased their great talent in dancing.
I can say that I really enjoyed what I did. I was inspired because of my classmates. They helped me to make a better output. I love how we laugh and having fun even if it's a simple thing. I can also say that doing impromptu art is a very challenging task. Why? Because you will think out of the box. You will give your best and your creativity to the fullest to make the best output you can make in a very short period of time. It was also fun because you have your classmates beside you that help you to have the best design. Art has been and always will be my passion. Doing art is fun. It makes me feel so comfortable whenever I'm doing a design. I will practice my skills in drawing. I want to further enhance my talent in drawing. I know I will be good at this with practice. I am looking forward for my better future. :-)

Arts. Arts. Arts.

For me, the the best period of arts in the history was "Renaissance". According to my researches, the Renaissance began in Italy in the 1300s and was characterized by an intellectual movement away from the religious themes that had blessed in the Middle Ages. Instead, artists during Renaissance began to focus on worldly themes of arts such as the importance of the individual. At the same time, artists began to imitate the styles, particularly in sculpture, that were common in old days. Some of the most famous artists of the Renaissance include Michelangelo for the frescoes on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, and his statue of the biblical David; Leonardo da Vinci for his many paintings including the Mona Lisa; and Raphael for his painting The School of Athens, which describes important philosophers from old days. The Renaissance was also a time when learning in many disciplines spread due to a higher standard of living which led to increasing numbers of universities, academies, and libraries.
Much of this learning influenced the art styles of the period. Painters during the Renaissance used increasing levels of mathematical attention in their work, learning how to apply techniques we take for granted today, such as the use of perspective to portray scenes which appear highly realistic to the viewer. Portrait artists used improved anatomical knowledge to paint human figures which looked accurate. The main distinction between the art of the Middle Ages and that of the Renaissance is the level of realism present in painting and sculpture. I won't say I don't have that much information about history of arts but I can say that our arts in the history

The beauty, where happiness and sadness clash.

The Mona Lisa was one of the most famous painting in the history of art and continues to inspire people to make parody, scientific theory, and more. An artwork that was made by one of the most famous painter in the world, Leonardo Da Vinci. Leonardo made a big name in the industry of painting. He's also the inspiration of many succeeding artists now a days. Some of his paintings, consist of portraits, landscapes and even also some of his well known paintings, The Last Supper, The Baptism, and The Annunciation. But The Mona Lisa, has the best impact to the people in the world. But who is Mona Lisa? What is the reason beyond her mysterious smile? Many questions arose over the years as to the true identity of the woman in the portrait. The Mona Lisa is said to be a portrait of a real woman. Leonardo painted it on the 16th century in Italy. A French government in Musee du Louvre in Paris, France currently owned the portrait. It was believed that it was painted four years.
As I keep on searching, I bumped to a blog about what happened to Lisa Gherardini. Archaeologists said that they’ve unearthed the secret behind the world’s most famous painting, the Mona Lisa. It was said that it was buried beneath the floor of a convent in Florence, Italy. They’ve found a skeleton they believe belonged to Lisa Gherardini, the model who posed for Leonardo’s da Vinci’s mysterious masterpiece. Lisa Gheradini, was the wife of a rich silk merchant named Francesco del Giocondo. In Italy the Mona Lisa is known as La Gioconda. But most modern historians agree that the lady depicted in the Mona Lisa was Lisa del Giocondo, who became a nun after her husband’s death. She died in the convent on July 15, 1542, aged 63. But we're not sure if this discovery is true or not. Maybe we will find it out soon.
As I keep reading on a website about Mona Lisa, many people were asking why she didn't have any eyebrows. It was said to be that it was removed or plucked as was of the fashion in her day. Many people were also asking if it's really a portrait of Leonardo Da Vinci. That he would have painted himself is one of the many theories. But it is widely accepted that it was the portrait of Lisa Gherardini. Some people said that it was Leonardo da Vinci's dream which he illustrated. As of today, many people, including me was still curious of the mysteries behind the painting, Mona Lisa. Mysteries that I think Leonardo da Vinci is the only one who can answer them. A great art work. A big mystery. Let's find it out soon!
